Places to See in Edmonton

Alberta Legislature Building

West Edmonton Mall

“At 5.3 million square feet, [West Edmonton] Mall is the size of a small city and is accredited as a zoo. [It] is home to more than 800 stores and services including 10 world-class attractions, two hotels, over 100 dining venues, the widest variety of one-of-a-kind retailers, and entertainment for all ages. Average yearly visitation is approximately 30.8 million, making West Edmonton Mall the province’s number-one tourist attraction.”

Old Strathcona / Whyte Ave

“Live music and theatre, shopping, festivals, restaurants and services, Old Strathcona has it all. With over 600 of Edmonton’s coolest businesses, Old Strathcona has everything you need for a modern lifestyle in a historical district. The area offers a variety of choices including fashion, music shops, lodging, food, salons & spas, gifts, books, decor, health, sporting goods, professional services and even vehicles.”

Fort Edmonton Park

“Fort Edmonton Park represents four distinct time periods, exploring Edmonton’s development from a fur trade post in the vast Northwest, to a booming metropolitan centre after the First World War. The park features over 75 structures many of which are the originals. Costumed interpreters operate the site and live the way of the past. Exploring each building, each room, and talking to the ‘inhabitants’ makes for an extremely enjoyable recreational visit.”

Winspear Centre

“The Francis Winspear Centre for Music is a world class concert hall, representing the very best in acoustical design. Home to music performances of all kinds, the hall has also been home to countless presentations and events of many kinds. Located in the heart of Edmonton’s Arts District, the Winspear Centre shares scenic Sir Winston Churchill Square with the Edmonton Art Gallery, City Hall, Citadel Theatre and Stanley A. Milner Library. The building’s open, dramatic exterior and glass tower are a vibrant addition to the downtown square.”

Things to Bring

Time to do some digging in your wardrobes! We thought it would be more fun to run around the city actually looking like a group, so it’s strongly recommended that you bring something that falls under each of these three categories :)

1) Red and White - Show some Canadian pride!

2) Colorful - The brighter the better! No black and white allowed!

3) Business casual - Let’s dress it up a bit :)

Progress Update #01

After three meetings and a lot of hard work from our coordinators, we have a tentative schedule lined up for the event! Some really great speakers will be attending the event, and there are some awesome workshops and service projects planned. Our social events coordinator has quite a few exciting socials for you guys, so definitely look forward to that. We can’t reveal too much, that would ruin the surprise, but let’s just say you might want to consider bringing a camera ;)

A Little Blast from the Past :)
